Spirited Rally to Save M8 Bus
On Saturday, February 21, a spirited group of 150 to 200 East and West Village residents converged on Astor Square to rally in support of saving the M8 Bus. Braving the cold and chanting “Save the M8!” and “Shame on the MTA!”, they listened to speeches from a diverse group of local politicians, community activists, and Village residents who rely on the bus every day.
A Night at the Hilton: Having a Ball with the MTA
“Let us in! Let us in!” Beginning with a whisper, an increasingly loud collective chant arose from those barred entry into the Hilton Hotel’s Trianon Ballroom for the Metroplitan Transit Authority’s public hearing on service cuts last January 14th. Two NYPD officers made their way quickly down the column of restive citizens. Urging calm they promised that the adjacent room was being opened to accommodate the one hundred left outside.
